SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Electronics majors Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have committed to various measures aimed at reducing carbon footprint.
According to company press release, Samsung Electronics received product carbon footprint label certification from the Carbon Trust for four of its high-performance system LSI products. The label will provide consumers the details on how much impact the product and its manufacturing process has on the environment. It must be noted that the company was the first in semiconductor industry to receive carbon footprint accreditation for memory chips from the Carbon Trust.

Meantime, LG Electronics announced its decision to use more recycled plastics in its products. The company targets multi-fold jump in recycled plastic usage from current levels of 20,000 tons to nearly 600,000 tons by 2030. It has set an initial target of 200,000 tons by 2025.
In order to promote plastic recycling, the company will boost efforts to collect discarded home appliances. LG plans to collect a total of 8 million tons of used electronic products by 2030. The company had collected 3.07 million tons during the previous year.
Apart from interior components, LG will use recycled plastics in exteriors of home appliances, in future.
