RUSAL's New Cast House Ready to Produce First Metal

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): RUSAL- Russia’s leading aluminum producer announced that the construction of the new 120,000-tonne cast house at its Boguchansky aluminium smelter (BoAZ) in Russia is nearing completion. The first metal from the cast house facility is expected to be produced during second half of the current year.

The company press release noted that the alloys produced at the new cast house will mainly serve clients from automotive industry. In addition to structural applications, as part of lightweighting process, the demand for foundry alloys from electric vehicles is also expected to witness rapid surge over the coming years, thus making the timing perfect for expansion of production capabilities.

The anticipated demand surge for foundry alloys will be met with the launch of the Properzi production line in BoAZ. Several countries including Germany, Japan, U.S., Turkey and South Korea are considered to be the primary drivers of demand growth for primary aluminum foundry alloys.
