Resolute had introduced a unique safety audit process across workplaces, focusing on individual accountability.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) presented the 2018 Sustainability Awards during its annual meeting held in Dallas, Texas on Friday, Nov.9. The six awards were distributed to five AF&PA member companies. WestRock Company received two awards. Resolute Forest Products (RFP) won the Leadership in Sustainability-Safety award for its proactive approach to workplace safety.
Resolute had introduced a unique safety audit process across workplaces, focusing on individual accountability. The process is implemented using a three-step process comprising of pre-task risk analysis, proactive near-miss reports and safety committee meetings. The process delivered unprecedented progress in safety metrics, with 26 company operations recording zero recordable injury during the previous year.
Donna Harman, President and CEO, AF&PA commended the remarkable progress of RFP’s safety initiatives. The company has done a great job by making every employee responsible for identifying potential safety hazards, which in turn has helped in creating injury-free workplace. Meantime, Yves Laflamme, President and Chief Executive Officer, RFP thanked AF&PA for recognizing the company’s safety performance. The company is committed to its long-term goal of zero incidenta across its operations, Laflamme added.
This is the second consecutive year that Resolute has been honored by AF&PA for its sustainability advancements. The company had won 2017 AF&PA Award for Energy Efficiency and Greenhouse Gas Reduction.
