Riverside police shut down access to Main Street while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): At approximately 3:06 pm on March 16th, 2026, Riverside Fire Department crews responded to a reported fire at a lumber yard near 330 Main Street in Riverside.

Firefighters arrived to find a fast-moving blaze burning through stacks of wooden pallets and damaging multiple tractors. Officials reported that propane tanks attached to the tractors exploded as the fire spread across the property.

Strong northeast winds, gusting up to about 20 mph, pushed the flames rapidly through the yard and eventually across Main Street into a nearby soccer field and municipal golf course.

Riverside police shut down access to Main Street while firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Several nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution.

Mutual aid was requested from Riverside County Fire, San Bernardino County Fire, and Corona Fire Department to assist with the large-scale response. Crews also reported issues with water pressure while working to control the fire.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
