SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A fourth-generation family-owned lumber company, Washougal Lumber Co., is closing its doors after Brett Scott, owner, announced his retirement. The business was established in 1909 and incorporated in 1917 by Scott's great-grandfather.
In 1992, Scott and his brother Kevin took over the business from their father. Scott told KGWNews8: "The people here are committed to shopping locally, and without all those people, we wouldn't have made it all these generations."
Longtime customers and friends of the family shared on social media how much the local lumber shop helped them with various projects throughout the years, and how welcoming Scott and his family had been to everyone that walked in the doors.
