RFP Appointed Hugues Simon as President of Wood Products

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Resolute Forest Products Inc. (RFP) announced appointment of Hugues Simon as President of Wood Products Division. He will join the company on 1^st March, 2021. It must be noted that Remi G. Lalonde assumes the new role of Prtesident and Chief Executive Officer on the same date. Mr. Simon will report to Mr. Lalonde.

Mr. Simon most recently served as President at BarretteWood, Inc.- a leading producer of value-added wood products having operating facilities in the U.S. and Canada. Prior to this, he had worked for Resolute and its predecessor companies for nearly seven years in various capacities. In the early stages of his career, Simon has worked in executive level capacities for a number of forest product companies. He has taken his graduation from Sherbrooke University and is also a certified public accountant (CPA).

Mr. Lalonde said that he is pleased to welcome Hugues back to RFP. Hugues is a strong dynamic leader with depth of wood products experience and a record of delivering superior results. He possesses the right skill-set and drive to propel the company’s wood products business, Lalonde added.

Along with third quarter 2020 result announcement, the company had said that Remi G. Lalonde will take charge as President and CEO, replacing Yves Laflamme, who will retire as on March 1st, 2021.
