The addition of Heathland will enable the group to have access to comprehensive recycling technologies and plastic wastes as feedstock, she added.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Trinseo- the leading manufacturer of plastics and latex binders announced that it has completed acquisition of Heathland B.V- the European recycler of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste. Based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Heathland collects, pre-treats and processes plastic waste materials using mechanical and chemical recycling processes, transforms them into high quality recycled raw materials, which in turn are used in several high-end applications.
The acquisition is in line with Trinseo’s 2030 Sustainability Goals comprising an ambitious plan that includes 15 long-term goals grouped under five main categories- climate change, sustainable product portfolio, supplier responsibility, responsible operations and sustainable workforce. These include 20% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions intensity, increasing share of electricity from non-fossil sources from 5% to 30%, reduce overall waste generation to 15%, reduce waste disposal to landfill to zero and reduce fresh water intake by 20% by 2030.
Commenting on the acquisition, Francesca Reverberi, SVP and Chief Sustainability Officer of Trinseo said that it is an exciting milestone in the company’s transformation journey. The addition of Heathland will enable the group to have access to comprehensive recycling technologies and plastic wastes as feedstock, she added.
