State-of-the-Art Plastic Recycling Plant Nears Completion in Thailand

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): France-based environmental services firm Suez announced that its modernized plastic recycling facility in Thailand is nearing completion. The plant is scheduled to be online during the second half of 2020. The opening of the new plant will further enhance the company’s Asian footprints. It must be noted that the company has almost a decade-long presence in the Asian region.

The company press release noted that the state-of-the-art 150,000 square feet facility features an advanced efficient water treatment system and rooftop solar panels. The facility uses modern machinery and technology imported from Europe. Upon commissioning, the plant will have capacity to convert approximately 30,000 tons per annum of plastic film into recycled-content pellets.

The company seeks to enter into new partnership projects in other countries of the region in effectively handling plastic waste. The transition to sustainability policies by various governments in the region offers enhanced opportunities. However, the rapidly falling oil prices poses big challenge to new plastic recycling investments, it said. The de-coupling of pricing for recycled-content plastic and virgin plastic could be helpful, said Antoine Grange, CEO- Asia Pacific, Suez.
