The latest restrictions on transboundary shipments owing to amendment of Basel Convention effective January 1, 2021 have further complicated the situation.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Indianapolis-headquartered Plastic Recycling Inc. announced that it will invest around $2 million towards installing a new system that processes e-plastics to produce clean recycled flake. The company processes various plastic streams including plastic flakes into pellets, the majority of which are sold. In addition, a PRI-owned manufacturer molds them into plastic cores for paper rolls.
The Chinese restrictions including the Green Fence and National sword regulations have had major impacts on export markets for e-plastics. Traditionally, these materials were mainly exported to Asian countries including China. The latest restrictions on transboundary shipments owing to amendment of Basel Convention effective January 1, 2021 have further complicated the situation.
