Launched this year, the Kulim pilot project has already collected about 100,000 kilograms of recyclable waste, of which nearly 28,000 kilograms are plastics.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nestle Malaysia has partnered with SWCorp Malaysia to boost plastic waste recovery efforts in Kedah through the expansion of its nationwide recycling programme, Project SAVE.
The partnership will extend recycling collection activities in Kulim, supporting broader community participation under the company’s voluntary Extended Producer Responsibility initiative. The collaboration was announced during the recently held Karnival Kitar event.
Project SAVE, launched in 2020, is currently Malaysia’s largest voluntary recycling platform. Implemented in partnership with local councils, waste concessionaires and recycling firms, it encourages households to separate recyclable waste for scheduled doorstep collection. The initiative now serves around 260,000 homes across nine Malaysian cities.
The figures released for 2025 indicate that Project SAVE resulted in diversion of approximately 15,000 tonnes of waste from landfills and marine environments, including nearly 10,000 tonnes of plastic materials.
