SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Mondelez International has marked key progress in its European packaging transformation, achieving its global target of 5% recycled plastic content while significantly reducing reliance on virgin materials. The company also completed the transition from rigid plastic trays to solutions containing nearly 80% recycled plastic across several flagship brands, cutting approximately 1,000 tons of virgin plastic annually.

These milestones span major markets including United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland, highlighting large-scale deployment of sustainable packaging innovations. Leading brands such as Milka and Oreo have already adopted trays made with recycled PET (rPET).
Mondelez is leveraging both mechanical and chemical recycling technologies to expand food-grade recycled plastic use. Initiatives include incorporating recycled materials into products like Cadbury Dairy Milk and advancing circularity pilots through partnerships such as HolyGrail 2030.
