SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading global packaging producer DS Smith announced that it will work together with the city of Ghent in its efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from its production processes. The company targets to reduce total carbon emissions by as much as 30%. It must be noted that the company had been conscious about energy reduction over the past several years.

Earlier last year, DS Smith had implemented an energy coaching program in partnership with the city of Ghent. The program had suggested possible areas of improvement after reviewing the processes thoroughly. The professional analysis of energy consumption at different stages had helped to address the stealth consumption and collection of waste water by a specialized company.

Tine Heyse, the Ghent Alderman for the Environment said that the city is proud to be able to help companies in reducing their emissions. In addition to offering cost savings for the company, it also helps to work towards fewer emissions in the city, she added.
