SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading European packaging producer, DS Smith, announced its decision to launch a pilot project on environmental education in Romanian schools.
The project, in partnership with Brasov County School Inspectorate, will be launched in schools across Zarnesti. The pilot project aims to educate elementary school students on the importance of environmental protection and recycling. Furthermore, it will highlight the importance of sustainability and the circular economy.
The program could be implemented either online or in classrooms. DS Smith plans to develop attractive educational resources, which will be provided to teachers, who in turn will help children to realize the significance of more sustainable behaviours. The lessons taught during the programs could be applied by students in their day to day life.
Commenting on the innovative project, Diana Ciuraru, Heman Resource Director, DS Smith Zarnesti noted that the environmental education project intends to create a sense of caring for the environment in an entertaining way among students. In future, it hopes to replicate this model at a broader level covering an entire nation.
