Output by Latin America’s Top Gold Mines in Q3

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Q3 production data released by the biggest gold mines in the Latin American region suggested mixed trend. While four of the eight big mines in the region reported production jump, the other four reported slump in production. The cumulative production by all these mines during the quarter recorded year-on-year surge from 1.07Moz to 1.11Moz.

The top producer in the region was the Pueblo Viejo mine in Dominican Republic. The production from the mine totalled 232,000 oz in Q3 this year. The mine production was down from 252,000 oz in the corresponding quarter last year, mainly on account of lower grades.

The Paracattu mine in Brazil clocked Q3 production of 146,396 oz. The operational efficiency of the mine, coupled with improved throughput and recovery boosted the output from 126,515 oz recorded in Q3 last year.
