SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Ellwood Group Inc. (EGI) announced its decision to construct a new 70,000-square-foot aluminum manufacturing plant at its existing Ohio site. The company plans to invest around $60 million towards construction of the proposed new aluminum casting facility. The construction works are expected to commence soon, with full commissioning of the plant expected by Q1 of 2020. The fully operational plant is expected to create nearly 30 full-time jobs in the region.
The new facility will be built at its Ellwood Engineered Castings (EEC) site in Hubbard, Ohio. The plant is expected to enable the company expand its material production capabilities beyond steel. The premium products from the plant will serve the rising demand from an array of industries including tool and die, aerospace forging, plate mill rolling, and extrusion, the company press release noted.
The proposed investment will expand Ellwood’s footprint in Hubbard. The new aluminum manufacturing facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art melting and casting technologies and is expected to produce approximately 150 million pounds of large, round billets and slabs per annum.
Ben Huffman, chief operating officer, EGI, noted that the company is excited to grow its presence in the Mahoning Valley, bringing new jobs and opportunities to the region. Hubbard’s proximity with EGI’s potential market makes it the ideal location for the new plant, he added.
