SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nucor Corporation announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art transmission tower production plant in Decatur, Alabama. The plant would be the first of two new tower production plants the company plans to build. The $125 million investment is expected to create approximately 200 full-time jobs.

The plant, adjacent to the Nucor Steel Decatur sheet steel mill, will be built by the Company's Towers & Structures business unit. The automated plant will feature efficient straight-line production and will include advanced hot-dip galvanizing operations as well. Also, potential sites in the U.S, Midwest are being evaluated towards construction of its planned second tower production plant, the company press release noted.
Commenting on the development, Leon Topalian, Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nucor Corporation said that it is very excited to build the new tower production plant in Alabama. Being the country’s most diverse industrial manufacturer of steel products, it expects to efficiently supply this new plant, he added.

Nucor Towers & Structures business unit had earlier announced plans to build two new tower production plants for a combined investment of $270 million.
