SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corporation has been named GM Supplier of the Year Award for the third consecutive year. The company was honoured during a virtual awards ceremony held yesterday. Incidentally, Nucor is the only electric arc furnace steelmaker to be selected for this year’s award, which happens to be the 29th year of awards.
The winners of the award are chosen by a global team of GM executives. The selection is based on the performance of suppliers in four key areas- Product Purchasing, Global Purchasing and Manufacturing Services, Customer Care and Aftersales, and Logistics.
Commenting on the important achievement, Leon Topalian, President and Chief Executive Officer, Nucor Corporation thanked GM for this recognition. The partnership with GM, especially during the pandemic period, presented numerous challenges for both industries. Nucor looks forward to further strengthen this partnership, he said. Furthermore, Topalian congratulated all of the Nucor teammates for their dedication and hard work, in helping the company achieve the prestigious honor.
Meantime, Shilpan Amin, vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, GM said that the company is pleased with the accomplishments of its partnership with suppliers during the past year and is extremely excited by the opportunities that lie ahead.
