Nucor Announced Modernization Projects at South Carolina Mill

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Charlotte, N.C.-headquartered Nucor Corporation announced that it plans to invest $200 million over a period of five years in modernization projects at its South Carolina Sheet and Beam Mill. The investment is subject to receipt of necessary permit and regulatory approvals.

As part of the investment, it will construct a new air separation unit at the mill, which will enhance supply of industrial gases for its steelmaking operations. Upon completion, the unit will be operated by UIG LLC, a Nucor wholly owned subsidiary. The project will allow the company to produce and supply all the gases needed for the steel mill from the new Nucor owned facility.
