Novelis and its partners have achieved great progress in the current vehicle models by utilizing aluminum with a high percentage of recycled content. The design, which makes extensive use of aluminum, is expected to result in both sustainability and lightweight. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are reduced by 95% when one pound of recycled aluminum is used in place of primary metal.
The requirement for end-of-life recycling has increased due to the popularity of electric vehicles (EVs), which use more aluminum. When electric vehicles (EVs) reach their average operational end-of-life of 12.5 years, this aluminum needs to be retrieved for use.
