Novelis Announced Sudden Closure of its Fairmont Plant

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to media sources, an American industrial aluminum business based in Atlanta, Georgia, plans to permanently close its Fairmont aluminum rolling and recycling facility by the end of June this year. Nearly 185 jobs would be lost as a result of the shutdown, according to city officials.

In less than a year, the business has closed its second West Virginia operation. The corporation had said earlier in March of last year that it would be closing its Buckhannon location.

As part of its efforts to consolidate its U.S. operations, Novelis announced in a statement that it has made the tough decision to terminate operations in Fairmont, West Virginia.
