Novelis Launched Innovative Packaging Solution for Car and Beverage Industry

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc. - the world’s largest aluminium recycler announced launch of new laminated aluminium surfaces for beverage can ends. The new innovative beverage packaging solution will be showcased September 27 to 29 at ALUMINIUM 2022 in Dusseldorf.

The new solution is expected to improve beverage container appearance, increase production process efficiencies and lower carbon dioxide emissions, much to the benefit of beverage brands and can makers in Europe. Furthermore, it will help the company to advance its leadership in the growing market for aluminium beverage packaging.

The new aluminium sheet comes with a black laminating film, which is free of Bisphenol A (BPA) and per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In addition, it meets all food and beverage industry requirements. The beverage can makers could use the new sheet with less cleaning, thus resulting in increased productivity.

The innovation will help can makers and beverage brands to meet their sustainability goals. For instance, lamination of aluminium coils for can ends reduces carbon dioxide emissions by almost one-third, when compared to conventional can coating.

Alexander Kuzan, Vice President of Can for Novelis Europe noted that the innovative solution meets the food and packaging industry's requirements for high-quality, lower carbon footprint material.
