North American Steel Industry Commits to Boost Recycling System

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The North American steel industry reaffirmed its commitment to further improvement of the nation’s recycling system.

Participating in the second U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Recycling Summit held on Friday, November 15, Thomas J. Gibson, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) highlighted steel industry’s leadership role in the recycling arena. He stated that the steel manufacturing units across the country accounts for significant use of recycled scrap steel. The increased use of steel scrap in steel manufacturing process by domestic U.S. mills conserves energy and natural resources and minimizes emissions, Gibson said.
