The mill will start delivering packaging paper to customers by Q2 this year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): By starting to produce recycled packaging at its Golbey newspaper and containerboard paper factory in Golbey, France, Norske Skog has achieved a significant and historic milestone.

It was the biggest single investment in Norske Skog's history, with an estimated 400 million euros invested total. The company's packaging paper capacity will increase by 550,000 tonnes thanks to the new, cutting-edge packaging machine, bringing the group's overall packaging paper capacity to about 760,000 tonnes.

By the second quarter of this year, the factory will begin shipping packaging paper to clients. By the end of this year, the machine's capacity utilization will be between 50 and 60 percent. In H1 2027, 95% utilization will be fully realized. According to a press statement from the company, the entire manufacturing will be made from recycled paper.

More than a million tons of waste paper will be sorted and recycled at the Golbey business, supporting the region's overall sustainable growth. In order to generate economical and environmentally friendly energy, Green Valley Energie will also receive production waste from the mill facility. Additionally, it is anticipated that the facility would stimulate industrial activity and long-term jobs in the area.

According to Geir Drangsland, CEO of Norske Skog, the packaging industry will continue to play a significant role in the company's operations in the future.
