NJ Steel Company Cited by OSHA for Serious Safety Violations

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A local New Jersey steel company has been cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorities on charges of multiple safety violations. A penalty of $348,683 has been levied against steel fabrication company Kenric Steel LLC.

The OSHA authorities had launched an investigation at the facility in Millville, New Jersey on 26^th July, 2023, following a complaint.

The inspection unveiled a total of 11 violations, including 4 willful and 7 serious violations. The facility failed to conduct annual inspection of overhead cranes. The site also lacked proper use of welding screens by employees. It also cited failures in installation of circuit breakers and labelling of containers and serious neglect in providing training to new hires on chemical safety.

Paula Dixon-Roderick, Area Director, OSHA noted that the safety consultant hired by the company a few months prior to the OSHA inspection had cited multiple safety and health hazards at the Millville fabrication shop. However, the company failed to correct the flaws, which is totally unacceptable. By doing so, company has violated its legal obligation to provide a safe and healthy workplace to all its workers, she added.
