SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Corporation held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of tubular steel supply to Shell. The ceremony was held jointly by Nippon Steel Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation and Shell in The Hague, the Netherlands.

The tubular steel product supply commenced in 1972, with Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Corporation shipping OCTG to Brunei Shell Petroleum. Later in 2006, it entered into a long term contract for OCTG supply. Since then, it has delivered more than 1.7 million tons of OCTG and line pipe tubular steel to Shell’s worldwide operations.
Nippon Steel, Sumitomo Corporation and Shell committed to further strengthen their relationship, by expanding the collaboration into energy transition, especially in areas such as hydrogen and CSS. The enhanced collaboration will play a key role in accelerating the journey to a carbon-neutral society.
Shell commended Nippon Steel’s capability to supply high quality products strictly in adherence to Shell’s needs and requirements. Meantime, Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Corporation pledged that it will continue to offer better products and services in response to Shell’s needs.
