SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): APM Terminals Apapa- Nigeria’s largest container terminal, in partnership with waste management startup Garbage In Value Out (GIVO), announced launch of a new zero-carbon plastics recycling hub. The Zero Carbon Recycling Hub, located in Apapa, aims to combat plastic pollution and foster environmental sustainability in Apapa. The official launch was held at Ladi-Lak Primary School, Apapa.
It is anticipated that the recycling hub will facilitate waste recycling and increase community accessibility. APM Terminals Apapa hopes to raise community knowledge about recycling plastic, which will have a major positive impact on the environment and the economy.

The initiative is a component of APM Terminals Apapa's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to its host communities, according to Steen Knudsen, Terminal Manager. By 2040, the corporation wants to have zero net emissions worldwide. APM Terminals has been boosting its investments in environmental sustainability in keeping with this.
The recycling center serves a 25-kilometer radius and is powered by solar energy. It helps prevent up to 3,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually by recycling about 300 kg of garbage per day.
