Delivering his address during the session on “A Universal Human Rights to a Health, Sustainable Environment - The Role of NHRIs”, Justice Mishra expressed serious concern over the dumping of electronic waste by developed countries. This practice has to be stopped across the world in order to ensure a healthy sustainable environment for human beings. Furthermore, he called for a time-bound multifaceted strategy to fight the menace of climate change.

NHRC highlighted the advisory issued by it to the Centre and State governments prevent, minimize and mitigate the impact of environment pollution and degradation of human rights. In addition, the Supreme Court has issued orders to ensure relocation of hazardous industries away from densely populated areas and set up eco-sensitive zones with the aim of protecting forest lands and natural resources.
