Nestle Reached New Agreement on Supply of Recycled Plastic

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nestle Waters UK, the bottled water division of Nestle UK has announced that it has entered into a new partnership with Biffa. As per the terms of the agreement, Biffa will supply Nestle with rPET made from British recycled plastic for plastic bottle manufacturing. Currently, the company sources rPET from markets across the entire Europe.

Biffa will supply rPET from its Seaham, County Durham plastics recycling facility to Nestlé Waters’ Buxton factory starting next year. Incidentally, Nestle Water had earlier announced that all of the water bottles manufactured at its Buxton facility will be from rPET from 2021 onwards.

Michel Beneventi, managing director of Nestlé Waters UK stated that the new local rPET supply deal will help to reduce carbon footprint associated with production, sourcing and transportation of packaging from outside of the UK. The agreement is a significant step towards its journey of achieving 100% rPET commitment, thereby creating huge positive, long-lasting impact.

The partnership aims to reduce reliance on virgin plastics and put an end to rising plastic pollution.
