SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The Philippines Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has established the National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP), a new platform aimed at combating the nation's growing plastic waste problem.
The platform's goal is to increase industry stakeholders' cooperation, which will hasten the nation's transition to a circular economy. It will serve as a common platform for academics, public and private sector leaders, ordinary citizens, and other important stakeholders to collaborate on creating a comprehensive solution to the nation's rapidly worsening plastic pollution problem.

The Philippines produces about 2.7 million metric tons of plastic waste annually, based on approximations. Most of the garbage mentioned above ends up in rivers. It should be mentioned that for a number of years, the nation has been one of the leading causes of plastic pollution worldwide.
Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, Secretary, DENR, stated during the program launch that the NPAP is a major step in accelerating the shift to a circular economy. According to Maria, the problem of plastic trash not only endangers biodiversity but also puts people's lives in jeopardy and has significant financial consequences.
NPAP Philippines is part of the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) - an initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
