Mondi Group Announced Ramp-Up of New Paper Machine

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Mondi- the global leader in packaging and paper announced ramp-up of new recycled containerboard machine at its Ruzomberek mill in Slovakia. The mill has initiated delivery of Kraft White Top- an innovative and sustainable new containerboard grade, to its European customers.

The new PM19 paper machine has a production capacity of 300,000 tonnes per annum and is part of the company’s €370 million investment towards upgrading the mill to reduce its environmental footprint. The investment is in line with Mondi’s sustainability goals and 10-Year Action Plan on sustainability.

The strategic location, being at a central location in the European containerboard market, promises to reduce delivery lead times to customers across Europe. The mill will produce two grades of Kraft White Top- ProVantage Smartwhite and ProVantage Topwhite. Upon full capacity, the machine will consume more than 200,000 tonnes of paper for recycling, said the company press release.

Commenting on the milestone development, Markus Gartner, CEO-Corrugated Packaging, Mondi said that the new paper machine enables the company to offer customers a high-quality new containerboard solution, while further improving the environmental footprint of the mill.
