SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The updated studies confirm that Barrick’s Fourmile project in Nevada is one of the greatest discoveries of the current century. The latest preliminary economic assessment (PEA) cited the rare combination of grade, scale and exploration upside at the mine, thus making it a potential candidate to emerge as the world’s top ten gold producers.
Speaking at the Minig Forum American in Colorado Springs, Barrick President and Chief Executive Mark Bristow noted that the ongoing explorations results have been highly encouraging. Based on the results, the company expects to double the resource by the end of this year. The project offers a rare combination of grade, scale and cash flow, which only a few projects worldwide could currently offer.
The recent studies indicate that a significant portion of Fourmile’s mineralization will be single refractory, which facilitates more flexible processing at a lower cost across the existing facilities of Nevada Gold Mines.
In order to evaluate the full potentials of the asset, Barrick intends to continue ramping up its current fleet of 16 surface rigs to more than 20 rigs. A directional surface drilling of approximately 120 km is planned for 2026.
