SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): German metals trading groups have decided to boost ties to jointly address the challenges faced by the scrap metals recycling industry. It has been decided to set up a joint committee to decide on future course of actions.
A joint meeting was held between the Federal Association of German Steel Recycling and Waste Management Companies (BDSV) and the Association of German Metal Traders and Recyclers (VDM) to discuss the areas of cooperation in an attempt to safeguard the interests of the industry. The meeting will mark the beginning of a more intensive cooperation between the German metal and steel recycling industry.
The meeting identified three key challenges that needs to be addressed- the industry’s contribution in transformation to a climate-neutral industry, preservation of world trade and attracting of young talent.
Achim Lindhorst, Vice President, VDM noted that the collaboration intends to bring together the leading associations of the non-ferrous metal recycling industry and the steel scrap industry. Meantime, Pouyan Dardashti, co-chair of the BDSV specialist committee for market and business administration stated that the common path will lay the foundation for the successful development of the steel and metal recycling industry.
