SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): CAL FIRE Butte Unit is responding to a recycling pile fire burning at Chico Scrap Metal east of Durham.
CAL FIRE says that around 12:56 p.m. Monday, they received reports of a fire burning in the area of Oroville-Chico Highway near the Durham-Pentz Road exit on Highway 99.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found a recycling pile at the facility that had caught fire, with flames that were approximately 30 feet high.
Action News Now reporter Camille Acevedo says that firefighting crews are using heavy equipment to pull the recycling fire apart.
CAL FIRE says that there are no injuries associated with the fire and that there are no impacts from the smoke.
Authorities say that fires at scrap recycling facilities occur once a year on average.
