SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Cyclic Materials announced plans to invest $25 million towards building a rare-earths recycling plant and research complex in Kingston, Ontario. The proposed Kingston Centre of Excellence will combine commercial-scale processing and research to advance a circular chain for rare earths and other critical minerals.
The new 140,000-square-foot facility will mark the company’s first commercial-scale “Hub” processing unit. It has the capability to process up to 500 tonnes of magnet-rich feedstock per annum and convert them into a recycled product rMREO(Mixed Rare Earth Oxide). The recycled product comprises of critical elements such as neodymium, praseodymium, terbium, and dysprosium.

The global demand for rare earths is witnessing surge, driven by increased popularity and acceptance of clean energy and digital technologies.
