May 8, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Exhibited Mixed Trend on the Index

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The Chinese scrap metal prices recorded mixed trend on the ScrapMonster Price Index  as of Thursday, May 8, 2025. Copper, Stainless Steel and Brass/Bronze scrap prices recorded decline over the previous day. Aluminum scrap prices edged higher on the Index. In contrast, Steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

The #1 Copper Bare Bright prices dipped by CNY 250 per MT over the previous day.

#1 Copper Wire and Tubing too saw price decline of CNY 250 per MT.

The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also decreased by CNY 250 per MT.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices recorded a fall of CNY 100 per MT on the Index. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices also were down by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day.

Copper Transformer and Cu Yokes scrap prices held steady over the prior day’s prices.

Cu/Al Radiator prices were down by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices were flat as of Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Heater Cores prices dropped by CNY 100 per MT.

In the meantime, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices held steady on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions witnessed a jump of CNY 50 per MT over the previous day.

Aluminum Ingots also were up by CNY 50 per MT.

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers were flat on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices edged higher by CNY 50 per MT.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices also increased by CNY 50 per MT each as of May 8, 2025.

The prices UBC and Zorba 90% INF held steady when compared with the previous day’s price.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady as of Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Cast Iron Scrap reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS prices were flat on the Index.

304 SS Solid prices also were unchanged over the previous day.

The price of 304 SS Turning held steady.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices were down by CNY 50 per MT each when compared with the prior day’s price.

310 SS scrap prices declined by CNY 100 per MT as of May 8, 2025.

Shred SS prices witnessed no variation over the previous day.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded minor decline on the Index.

Brass Radiator scrap prices were down by CNY 50 per MT as of May 8, 2025.

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices dropped by CNY 50 per MT each when matched with the previous day’s prices.
