May 6, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Reported Mixed Trend on the Index

The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also increased by CNY 450 per MT.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The Chinese aluminum scrap prices witnessed a marginal decline on ScrapMonster Price Index as of Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Copper scrap prices were up from the previous day. Brass/Bronze and Stainless Steel scrap prices recorded increase when matched with the prior day’s prices. In the meantime, Steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.
Copper Scrap Prices
The #1 Copper Bare Bright prices were up by CNY 450 per MT.
#1 Copper Wire and Tubing price saw a jump of CNY 450 per MT.
The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also increased by CNY 450 per MT.
#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were up by CNY 200 per MT over the previous day’s price. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery witnessed a marginal increase of CNY 50 per MT when compared with the day before.
Copper Transformer scrap prices were unchanged on the Index.
Cu Yokes prices were up by CNY 50 per MT.
Cu/Al Radiators and Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices increased by CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.
The price of Heater Cores witnessed a jump of CNY 150 per MT on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Meanwhile, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices held steady on the Index.
Aluminum Scrap Prices
6063 Extrusions recorded a decline of CNY 50 per MT in prices over the previous day.
Aluminum Ingots also were down by CNY 50 per MT.
The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers saw no change from the previous day’s prices.
E.C Aluminum Wire prices decreased by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.
Old Cast and Old Sheet prices also edged lower by CNY 50 per MT each on May 6, 2025.
The prices of UBC and Zorba 90% INF held steady from the previous day.
Steel Scrap Prices
#1 HMS prices were flat on May 6, 2025.
Cast Iron Scrap also reported no change in prices.
Stainless Steel Scrap Prices
201 SS prices were flat on the Index.
304 SS Solid and 304 SS Turning prices also were unchanged on the Index.
309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices increased by CNY 50 per MT when compared with the prior day.
310 SS scrap prices were up by CNY 100 per MT as of May 6, 2025.
Shred SS prices witnessed no change over the previous day.
Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices
The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded increase from the previous day.
Brass Radiator scrap prices were up by CNY 50 per MT as of Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices too increased by CNY 100 per MT on the Index.
