May 12, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Jumped on the Index

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The Chinese aluminum scrap prices witnessed a modest increase on ScrapMonster Price Index  as of Monday, May 12, 2025. Copper scrap prices also were up from the previous day. Brass/Bronze and Stainless Steel scrap prices increased when matched with the prior day’s prices. In the meantime, Steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

The #1 Copper Bare Bright prices were up by CNY 650 per MT.

#1 Copper Wire and Tubing price saw a jump of CNY 650 per MT.

The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also increased by CNY 650 per MT.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were up by CNY 300 per MT over the previous day’s price. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery witnessed a jump of CNY 100 per MT when compared with the day before.

Copper Transformer and Cu Yokes scrap prices edged higher by CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.

Cu/Al Radiators saw a jump of CNY 100 per MT in prices.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices were up by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day.

The price of Heater Cores were up by CNY 250 per MT on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Meanwhile, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices witnessed no change on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions recorded a jump of CNY 300 per MT in prices over the previous day.

Aluminum Ingots also were up by CNY 300 per MT.

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers increased by CNY 150 per MT each on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices increased by CNY 300 per MT on the Index.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices also edged higher by CNY 300 per MT each on May 12, 2025.

The prices of UBC and Zorba 90% INF were up by CNY 150 per MT each from the previous day.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady on May 12, 2025.

Cast Iron Scrap also reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS prices recorded a jump of CNY 100 per MT on the Index.

304 SS Solid and 304 SS Turning prices also edged higher by CNY 150 per MT each on the Index.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices were up by CNY 200 per MT each when compared with the prior day.

310 SS scrap prices recorded an increase of CNY 250 per MT as of May 12, 2025.

Shred SS prices witnessed a jump of CNY 150 per MT over the previous day.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded increase from the previous day.

Brass Radiator scrap prices increased by CNY 50 per MT as of Monday, May 12, 2025.

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices too were up by CNY 100 per MT each on the Index.
