Malfunction at International Paper Mill Caused Odor in City’s Water

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  Mayor Carol Jayroe blamed a fault at a shuttered International Paper company for the recent strong smell found in Georgetown water.

An intense stench was discovered near the Georgetown mill due to a process fault brought on by recent cold weather, according to a statement released by International Paper. Freezing temperatures produced difficulties in a condensate-pulling piping system.

The statement further mentioned that when the system was depressurized, a little amount of condensate was leaked. Although the condensate had a sulfurous smell, the concentration was well below what would be considered harmful to human health. According to the corporation, there are now no known health risks to the environment or community, and the piping system has been fixed. According to the statement, it is also still working through its planned closure and cleaning procedure.

The organization declared that protecting the environment, the community, and its coworkers would be its main concern.

According to Mayor Carol Jayroe, she will keep in contact with the International Paper Company and other responsible agencies to make sure the situation is closely watched.

There are now no dangers to public safety, according to the city and the International Paper company.
