Lundin Mining Announced Initial Mineral Resource at Filo del Sol

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Vicuna Corp, a 50/50 joint venture between Lundin Mining and BHP, has finished an initial Mineral Resource estimate for the Filo del Sol sulphide deposit, according to a statement released by Vancouver, British Columbia-based Lundin Mining Corporation.

13 million tonnes of measured and indicated (M&I) and 256 million tonnes of inferred copper were estimated to be present in the mine. It had 49 million ounces of inferred gold and 32 million ounces of M&I gold. Additionally, it contained 808 million ounces of inferred silver and 659 million ounces of M&I silver.

The Filo del Sol project is the biggest greenfield copper discovery in the last thirty years, according to the Mineral Resource estimate update. The Josemaria deposits and the Filo del Sol project both feature substantial high-grade mineralization that may supply the first few years of mining. Additionally, it shows that M&I-contained copper mineral resources have increased by 29%, while inferred-contained copper mineral resources have increased by 650%.

The entire Filo team received congratulations from Jack Lundin, President and CEO of Lundin Mining, for the outstanding deposit discovery and advancement. "The deposit will become a globally ranked mining complex with the development of one of the largest gold and silver resources and one of the highest grade undeveloped open pit copper projects," he continued.
