Leading Metals Recycler EMR’s Plastics Recycling Arm Opened New Facility

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): MBA Polymers UK announced opening of its third UK facility at Duddeston, Central Birmingham. It must be noted that MBA Polymers UK is the plastics recycling arm of leading metals recycling firm EMR Ltd. The setting up of the new facility is part of EMR’s efforts to create a nationwide network of collection centres to boost collection of plastic from electronic waste, automotive shredder residue and post-industrial production.

The new £400,000 facility is expected to help UK manufacturers to cut plastic waste from their production lines. The facility will have capacity to produce between 13,000 and 15,000 tonnes of recycled plastic by 2030. Incidentally, MBA Polymers UK targets to achieve a production of 100,000 tonnes of recycled plastic by the end of this decade. This is inclusive of production from its other two sites in Worksop and Dover.

This facility will make MBA Polymers the largest global recycler of plastics from the manufacture of new vehicles.

Paul Mayhew, General Manager, MBA Polymers UK said that the arrival of the business and its innovative recycling process to Birmingham is the next exciting chapter in its UK story. Moreover, it will allow manufacturers to join a closed loop supply chain to recycle their post-production plastics, he added.
