JW Aluminum Eyes Significant Increase in Scrap Consumption

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  JW Alumium- America’s leading flat-rolled aluminium producer announced that the expansion works under progress at its Goose Creek, S.C. facility will lead to significant increase in scrap intake. The annual consumption of scrap including UBC, extrusion, old sheet and alloys are likely to increase by at least 100 million pounds, it said.

According to company spokesperson, the new melting technology at the plant will boost the overall scrap consumption. It must be noted that the facility has been using only a very small quantity of UBCs in the process.

The project is nearing completion and the plant is expected to commence production during the second half of 2020. Upon full operation, the plant is expected to consume a total of around 300 million pounds of scrap every year.
