SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): India-based leading steelmaker JSW Steel announced that it has entered into a partnership with German engineering and technology giant SMS Group. The newly announced collaboration will explore innovative solutions, conduct joint research and development projects towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting use of green steel manufacturing technologies at its steelmaking facilities in India.

According to recent press release by the company, it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dusseldorf, Germany based SMS Group GmbH to implement decarbonisation projects at its manufacturing facilities. JSW Steel will provide SMS Group with access to its facilities. In addition, it will provide details of operations, raw material consumption and manpower to enable SMS Group to create customized solutions to reduce carbon emission.
Commenting on the development, Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director, JSW Steel noted that the company is on its way to turning metals green with the help of its technology partner, SM Group. JSW Steel is committed to build and upgrade all of its plants with latest technologies, so as to ensure a secure and healthy future for all stakeholders, he added.
