SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading IT asset recycler CompuCycle announced major expansion of its plastics recycling capabilities. The company is now capable of processing e-waste plastics into single polymers, which in turn are reused in the manufacturing process by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), thus ensuring a closed loop.
CompuCycle has thus emerged as the only U.S. company to offer responsible and sustainable in-house recycling solutions for both metals and plastics, said the company news release. The single solution e-waste recycling company possesses two accredited certification standards- e-Stewards and R2.
According to report published by the Organisation for Co-Operation and Economic Development (OCED) in 2022, only around 9% of world’s total plastics produced are recycled. Nearly 72% of these end up in landfills or environment, while the remaining 19% gets incinerated, thus polluting the environment.
Commenting on the development, Kelly Adels Hess, chief executive officer, CompuCycle said that the company is proud to announce the launch of the first domestic, sustainable, single-solution e-waste plastics program, which will result in significant reduction in the amount of plastics that are harmful for the environment.
