Interfor Enters Five-Year Agreement with Homalco First Nation

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Interfor Corporation announced that it has signed a five-year relationship agreement with Homalco First Nation- the First Nations government located in Bute Inlet near the upper Sunshine Coast of BC, Canada. It must be noted that both the parties have been engaged in meaningful, mutually beneficial relationship over the past decade or so. Homalco and Interfor will celebrate the partnership on National Indigenous Peoples Day 2019 on June 21st.

According to business-to-business arrangement between the two parties, in line with the agreement, the lumber used by the Nation for wood-frame construction projects are exchanged for logs harvested in Homalco traditional territory.

Commenting on the agreement, Ric Slaco, Vice President and Chief Forester noted that Interfor is proud to enter into a long-term relationship agreement with Homalco First Nation. The agreement supports a strong economic partnership that offers meaningful benefits to both the Homalco Nation and Interfor. The partnership will help in building a strong, viable forest economy, Slaco added.
