Indorama Collaborates with IMG to Launch New Plastic Recycling Project

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading PET manufacturer and recycler Indorama Ventures and IMG Group have joined up with non-governmental organization Ayuda en Accion to initiate a new plastic recycling initiative in Mali's capital, Bamako.
The new program, Bamagreen, intends to give about 1,950 people—of which over 40% would be women—stable and respectable work possibilities. Additionally, the program's garbage education and reforestation initiatives could help over 10,000 people throughout the city.

By giving them equipment to turn plastic trash into flakes and everyday goods, the new recycling project seeks to improve the recycling capacities of Ecobuild, a local social start-up. They could be used locally by Ecobuild or sold elsewhere in Mali and the neighboring nations. Additionally, Ecobuild will establish a fund to provide low-interest loans to individuals, particularly women, so they can launch their own businesses.
The new recycling initiative is the first in the IMG Group's Plastic2Prosperity program, which aims to increase plastic circularity and generate socioeconomic opportunities. IMG intends to expand the Bamagreen model to other areas experiencing a plastic trash epidemic.
In addition, Mali has experienced a growing pollution catastrophe from plastic trash, which has a major impact on people's quality of life.
