Holmen Paper Mills Recognized with Highest Sustainability Rating by Ecovadis

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Holmen’s paperboard and paper mills have been awarded the highest sustainability rating by Ecovadis- the international assessment company. The award essentially means that the company’s mill facilities belong to the top standards among all assessed companies.

According to the company press release, the Swedish forest company’s paperboard mills in Iggesund and Workington and paper mills in Braviken and Hallsta have been honoured with Ecovadis Platinum- the newly introduced standard to reward the highest-ranked companies. It must be noted that Ecovadis rating are awarded after assessment of over 65,000 companies in over 200 sectors spread across the globe.

Commenting on the prestigious achievement, Elin Swedlund, sustainability manager for the Holmen Group said that the company’s production plants are among the most resource-efficient in the world. The company has been able to achieve significant reduction in use of energy, water and chemicals. The grant of awards to its facilities demonstrates the success of its long-term sustainability efforts, he added.

Ecovadis Paltinum is a new medal introduced in 2020, to reward the highest ranked companies. It includes only the top one percent of all rated companies.
