The huge fire which ripped through the pile of scrap cars at Hainford Hall yard in Norwich is reported to be under control

LONDON (Scrap Monster): The huge fire which ripped through the pile of scrap cars at Hainford Hall yard in Norwich is reported to be under control. More than 40 firefighters worked for almost 2 hours to suppress the fire. No injuries were reported so far. Investigations are due to take place today.

The fire which involved about 60 cars, started at around 2 pm and was reported by a female office staff at the scrap yard. Thick fumes of black smoke covered the entire area. Police blocked several nearby roads including St Faith’s Lane, Lady Lane, Newton Road, Church Lane and Chapel Road. The fire fighters from Wroxham, Earlham, Hethersett, Mundesley, Sprowston, Aylsham and Carrow were called to the site. Almost 100 cars were immediately removed from near the fire, which prevented the fire from spreading. No injuries were reported from the fire site.

The cause of the incident is still unknown. Firefighters were unable to carry out a fire investigation due to lack of safety at the site. It was later decided that an investigation is not necessary into the incident.

This is not the first instance of scrap yard fire at the 8-acre Hainford storage yard. Earlier in January, a similar blaze was reported from the same site.
