The new mill is expected to add around 200 full-time jobs.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Green Bay Packaging Inc. announced that its new Green Bay paper mill commenced production. The first reel of paper from the mill was produced on March 11th. This makes the company’s total number of U.S. paper mills to five. The company had broken ground on the site in 2019.
The new mill, located south of the Leo Frigo Bridge, is expected to produce containerboard, by consuming both old corrugated containers (OCC) and mixed paper. The company had invested nearly $500 million in the new plant, which is expected to have significant positive impacts on the economy of northeast Wisconsin.

Will Kress, chairman and CEO of Green Bay Packaging noted that it is quite exciting for the company to ramp up production at its new paper machine. This is the single biggest project in the company’s history, he said. The project would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of its employees, partners, suppliers and customers, he added.
The startup of the mill will preserve over 1,000 jobs across Brown County and approximately 1,500 jobs in the state of Wisconsin. The new mill is expected to add around 200 full-time jobs.
The general contractor for the construction of the mill was Neenah, Wisconsin-based Miron Construction. Alao, Voith Paper was the full-line equipment supplier for the project.
