SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The first gold assaying and hallmarking centre in the Kashmir Valley has started operations. The ‘Kashmir Hallmarking Centre (KHC)’, which started functioning yesterday, has been accredited by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The centre will be responsible for certification of gold and verification of its purity.

According to sources, KHC is the first of its kind in Kashmir Valley and the fourth in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. It is funded under the local government’s Seed Capital Fund Scheme and sponsored by the JammuKashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI).
