ABU DHABI (Scrap Monster): The top officials of the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) announced that almost 60% of the world record winning gold chain has been sold out already. The remaining part is all set to sell out soon on the back of tremendous response from gold customers. The Group also indicated tremendous rise in gold jewelry sales during initial few days of this year’s Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).
Dubai had reportedly made the world’s longest 22-carat hand-made gold chain. The chain named ‘Dubai Celebration Chain’ measures 5.522 kilometers in length, weighing approximately 256 kilograms. The chain is being showcased as part of promotion event for this year’s Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), which is already underway in Dubai.
According to DGJG, nearly 4 kilometres of the chain weighing nearly 150 kilograms has been pre-booked by customers. The chain will be kept on display until Jan 9th, DGJG added. The booked orders will be delivered from the next day onwards. The data accumulated from various participating jewelry outlets indicate that local Arab customers have shown huge interest in buying pieces of the Guinness record setting gold chain. Various expatriate communities, especially those from Asia and Western countries also showed enormous response to pre-booking.
Meanwhile, sales data for initial few days of DSF suggest that gold jewelry sales have jumped by nearly 40% to 50% when compared with the previous year. The alluring promotional schemes introduced by the DGJG coupled with low gold prices have accelerated gold sales this year.
